  Diagnostic Assessment

Diagnostic Placement

All incoming students are required to complete the assessment that includes basic measures of reading comprehension, writing, and mathematics.  The requirements are derived and based on a preliminary evaluation of your transcripts received on admission to the university. If you think you may be exempt from one or more of these tests, you should review our exemption criteria.

To take the computer-based Accuplacer tests call the Center for Academic Excellence at 651-793-1460 to schedule an appointment. Be prepared to give us your name, student ID, phone number, and which test(s) you will be taking (Math and Reading/Writing, Math only, or Reading/Writing only).

The Accuplacer tests are not timed.  To complete ALL tests (math, reading and writing) generally takes about two hours. You will need to plan accordingly so you won't feel rushed.
