This database covers many disciplines and provides electronic access to the full-text articles of more than 4,700 publications, including more than 3,600 peer-reviewed publications. Citations and abstracts are available for another 3,500 journals. Some full-text journals date as far back as 1965. Academic OneFile (Gale)    A comprehensive database containing articles from over 12,000 peer-reviewed journals in all subject areas, including medicine, social science, law and humanities. It also includes many news media sources, such as the New York Times since 1985 and NPR transcripts of every broadcast since 1990. AccessScience    Encyclopedia of Science and Technology. Articles on science and technology topics, with references and links for further study. A good starting place for science research. Dictionary terms and biographies are included as well. ACM Digital Library    Through the ACM Portal, you can access full text computer and technology articles and information. The ACM Digital Library is a Full text collection of every article published by Association for Computing Machinery, including over 50 years of archives. Full text access to literature by affiliated organizations as well. The Guide to Computing literature is citations and abstracts from major publishers in computing. It has an excellent subject-browsing feature (the Computing Classification System). AGRICOLA AGRICOLA (AGRICultural OnLine Access) is a bibliographic database of citations to the agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and its cooperators. The database covers materials in all formats, in the field of agriculture and allied disciplines, including animal and veterinary sciences, entomology, plant sciences, forestry, aquaculture and fisheries, farming and farming systems, agricultural economics, extension and education, food and human nutrition, and earth and environmental sciences. AH Search (FirstSearch) Arts and Humanities Citation Index indexes the world's leading arts and humanities journals, selected articles from social science and science journals, bibliographies, editorials, letters, reviews, and more. Although this database is not full-text, you can still obtain the articles through either A-Z or InterLibrary Loan. Alt HealthWatch Focuses on the many perspectives of complementary, holistic and integrated approaches to health care and wellness. It offers full-text articles for more than 180 international, and often peer-reviewed journals and reports. Alternative Press Index (FirstSearch) A comprehensive guide to alternative sources of information. Indexes over 500 alternative, radical, and left periodicals, newspapers, and magazines. Includes selected abstracts from research journals. Coverage is international and interdisciplinary, with extensive coverage in the humanities and social sciences. Although this database is not full-text, you can still obtain the articles through either A-Z or InterLibrary Loan. Alternative Press Index Archive (FirstSearch) This database is the same as the Alternative Press Index, but covers the years 1969-1990. A comprehensive guide to alternative sources of information. Indexes 456 alternative, radical and left periodicals, newspapers and magazines. Includes selected abstracts from research journals. Coverage is international and interdisciplinary with extensive coverage in the humanities and social sciences. America: History and Life   AH&L is a database covering the world’s scholarly literature in the history of the United States and Canada from prehistoric times to the present. Articles are abstracted from more than 2,400 journals. For similar coverage of non-U.S. and non-Canadian history, see Historical Abstracts. Art Museum Image Gallery    The Art Museum Image Gallery is a rich digital resource of art images and related multimedia gathered from the collections of distinguished museums around the world. This collection includes over 155,000 superior quality images with a full bibliographic record. Association for Information Systems eLibrary   The Association for Information System Electronic Library (AISeL) is an electronic repository for the ICIS, AMCIS, ECIS, PACIS, BLED, ACIS and MWAIS conference proceedings. Basic BIOSIS (FirstSearch) Basic information about biology and other life sciences. Covers the basic core of life science journals found in college and university libraries. Includes popular and scholarly science journals. Although this database is not full-text, you can still obtain the articles through either A-Z or InterLibrary Loan. Biography Resource Center (Gale)   The Biography Resource Center combines over 400,000 biographies on nearly 320,000 people from respected print sources, with full-text articles from more than 265 magazines. Biology Digest (FirstSearch) Life-science information written in a non-technical style. Provides detailed abstracts written in a nontechnical style for students and interested nonscientists, or for scientist studying outside of their specialties. Books In Print (BIP) Use Books In Print to find information on books, videos and audio material. It includes access to Bowker's Publishers Authority Database (a comprehensive database of over 165,000 publishers, distributors, wholesalers and book agents) an easy way to download, e-mail and print title information and search results, the ability to check stock availability with various wholesalers, plus you can check their discount schedules, return policies and more. Business and Company Resource Center (Gale)    Business & Company Resource Center brings together in a single database company profiles, company brand information, rankings, investment reports, company histories, chronologies, and periodicals. It has full-text access to many trade publications. Search this database to find detailed company and industry news and information. Business Source Premier (EbscoHost)    This database covers virtually every aspect of business. Electronic access to over 3,600 full-text journals. The sources include many scholarly journals like the Harvard Business Review and the California Management Review. This resource also provides profiles on the largest 5,000 companies as well as country economic reports. CCH IntelliConnect This service provides access to many tax accounting resources including the Standard Federal Income Tax Reporter, the Internal Revenue Code, and the Federal Tax Regulations. CIAO   >Columbia International Affairs Online (CIAO) is a comprehensive source for theory and research in international affairs. It publishes a wide range of scholarship from 1991 onward that includes working papers from university research institutes, occasional papers series from NGOs, foundation-funded research projects, proceedings from conferences, books, journals and policy briefs. CIAO is also widely-recognized source for teaching materials including original case studies written by leading international affairs experts, course packs of background readings for history and political science classes, and special features like the analysis of a bin Laden recruitment tape with video. CINAHL Plus with Full Text   CINAHL Plus with Full Text provides indexing for 3,123 journals from the fields of nursing and allied health, with coverage dating as far back as 1937. There are also 391 Full Text Journals included. CLASE and Periodica (FirstSearch) Index of Latin American journals in the social sciences and humanities, science and technology. Cochrane Library    The Cochrane Library contains independent evidence to inform healthcare decision-making. It includes evidence from Cochrane and other systematic reviews, clinical trials, and more. Communication & Mass Media Complete   Article database that incorporates the contents of CommSearch and Mass Media Articles Index along with numerous other journals on the fields of communication and mass media. Communications of the Association for Information Systems   The Association for Information Systems (AIS) began publishing two electronic journals in 1999 - Communications of AIS and The Journal of AIS. These journals are designed to be complementary and the first part of this statement of editorial policy is common to both. Computer Database (Gale)   Use this database to find computer-related product introductions, news and reviews in areas such as hardware, software, electronics, engineering, communications and the application of technology. A variety of full text business and technical publications. Conference Board   Research reports on key topics in the areas of business, economics, management and the marketplace. Contemporary Authors (Gale)   Find full-text information on over 120,000 U.S. and international authors. Contemporary Women’s Issues (FirstSearch) Indexes books, journals, newsletters, research reports from non-profit groups, government and international agencies, and fact sheets. Broad in scope, this database contains global information on women around the world. Although this database is not full-text, you can still obtain the articles through either A-Z or InterLibrary Loan. Corporate Affiliations    A guide to public, private, and international corporate families. This directory covers over 200,000 parent companies, affiliates, subsidiaries, and divisions. It includes company profiles, key personnel, directors on the board, outside service firms, product lists, and company hierarchies. Searchable by company name, geographical location, industry, and sales. Please make it a point to log off of this service when you are done using it. Thanks. Country Reports (Walden & CIA Factbook)   Concise facts & statistics about countries CQ Global Researcher Modeled after CQ Researcher, CQ Global Researcher provides readers with definitive, in-depth coverage of global affairs from a number of international viewpoints. Criminal Justice Abstracts Indexes and abstracts the major journals, books, dissertations, government reports and unpublished papers in criminology and related disciplines. Covers crime trends, crime prevention and deterrence, drugs, government, juvenile delinquency, juvenile justice, law, police, political science, public administration, courts, punishment and sentencing. Although this database is not full-text, you can still obtain the articles through either Full Text Journal Finder or InterLibrary Loan. CSA    Main interface to CSA databases including Criminal Justice Abstracts and Sociological Abstracts. Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ)   Directory of Open Access Journals covers free, full text, quality controlled scientific and scholarly journals of all subjects and languages. There are 2588 journals in the directory; currently 773 journals are searchable at article level; approximately 127570 articles are included in the DOAJ service. Dissertation Abstracts (FirstSearch) Selectively covers masters theses and dissertations from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Europe. Although this database is not full-text, you may be able to obtain a dissertation through InterLibrary Loan. EbscoHost    Provides access to the array of EbscoHost full-text databases that include: Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier, Medline, and more. EconLit (FirstSearch) Journals, books, and working papers on economics. Provides citations for dissertations and articles in more than 620 collective volumes per year. Education Full Text (Wilson)    Full Text articles on a variety of topics in education. Education Full Text is a bibliographic database that indexes articles of at least one column in length from English-language periodicals and yearbooks published in the United States and elsewhere. Abstracting coverage begins with Jan. 1994., full –text coverage begins with Jan. 1996. Educator's Reference Complete (Gale)   Educator's Reference Complete is a selection of more than 450 full-text academic journals, hundreds of full-text reports, and many premier reference sources. Included content focuses on educational principles, child development and psychology, and best practices in education. Majority of the full-text titles included are also found in the ERIC database. The database is updated daily and provides 24-hour access from school or home. Encyclopedia Britannica Online   The online version of the classic encyclopedia, with graphs, photos and movies. Supplemented with the Merriam-Webster Dictionary and Thesaurus, a world atlas, a timeline, and a year in review feature. Articles include links to relevant websites. ERIC (CSA)   The ERIC (Educational Resources Information Center) database is sponsored by the U.S. Department of Education to provide extensive access to educational-related literature. The CSA version provides access to the very useful ERIC Thesaurus through the Search Tools tab at the top of the screen. ERIC database   This link provides access to the ERIC database available from the U.S. Dept. of Education through the web. ERIC indexes two types of materials: articles that have been published in education journals, and unpublished documents. Ethnic NewsWatch    News, culture, and history from over 260 publications of the ethnic, minority, and native press in English and Spanish. Ethnic NewsWatch full-text titles offer additional viewpoints from those proffered by the mainstream press. Evidence-Based Resources from the Joanna Briggs Institute   Valuable evidence-based nursing information from The Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI). These resources include Systematic Reviews, Evidence Summaries, and Best Practice Information Sheets. The JBI's evidence-based approach opens a new world of education resources, with critical appraisal and meta-analysis that is highly respected in the field. Expanded Academic ASAP (Gale)    This database meets research needs across all academic disciplines, from arts and the humanities to social sciences, science and technology. Gale Virtual Reference    Gale Virtual Reference is a collection of reference "e-books" that is searchable just like a database. The collection is made up of authoritative and respected subject encyclopedias and more. Gale Virtual Reference is a great place to begin your research, gather background information, or explore possible research topics." Gartner Group   Gartner provides full text reports from IT market reports and research. This resource is made available by MNSCU via the Metropolitan State IT Department. Thus, you will need to provide your MNSCU Student/Tech ID and PIN to access this database, rather than your Metropolitan State NetDirect account. Your Student/Tech ID number is found on the front of your Student ID card. General Business File ASAP (Gale)   This database is used to search business periodicals. Analyze company performance and activity, industry events and trends as well as the latest in management, economics and politics. Access to a combination of broker research reports, trade publications, newspapers, journals and company directory listings with full text and images available. General Reference Center Gold (Gale)   A general interest database that integrates a variety of sources in one easy-to-use interface. Use General Reference Center Gold to find articles from newspapers, reference books, and periodicals, many with full-text and images. Find the latest current events, popular culture, business and industry coverage, the arts and sciences, sports, hobbies, and more. General Science Collection (Gale)   A collection of over 200 journals, providing researchers with the information needed to stay current on the latest scientific developments -- including such topics as particle physics, advanced mathematics, and nanotechnology. GEOBASE (FirstSearch) Worldwide literature on geography, geology, and ecology. Covers journals, books, monographs, conference proceedings, and reports. Google Scholar   Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations. Many of these are not full text, but Google Scholar is now linked to the Metro State library resources and can connect to full text there. GreenFILE   GreenFILE offers well-researched information covering all aspects of human impact to the environment. Its collection of scholarly, government and general-interest titles includes content on global warming, green building, pollution, sustainable agriculture, renewable energy, recycling, and more. The database provides indexing and abstracts for more than 384,000 records, as well as Open Access full text for more than 4,700 records. GuideStar Premium A database that provides access to many IRS 990 forms. The IRS 990 form is the primary financial report of most nonprofit organizations. Historical Statistics of the United States   A standard source for the quantitative facts of American history. Homeland Security Digital Library   The HSDL collection provides quick access to important U.S. policy documents, presidential directives, and national strategy documents as well as specialized resources such as theses and reports from various universities, organizations and local and state agencies. The resources are reviewed and selected by a team of homeland security researchers and organized in a unique homeland security taxonomy. HSDL content includes state-of-the-art multi-media offerings and other valuable assets identified by CHDS master's degree participants and instructors. LexisNexis – Reference – Biographical Information   Find biographical documents on politicians, business executives & more. LGBT Life (EbscoHost)    LGBT Life with Full Text contains the abstracts for 230+ journals and newspapers as well as the full text for more than 35 of the most important and historically significant LGBT journals, magazines, and regional newspapers. LGBT Life also includes comprehensive indexing and abstract coverage as well as a specialized LGBT Thesaurus containing over 6,300 terms. Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) Library, Information Science & Technology Abstracts (LISTA) indexes more than 500 core journals, more than 50 priority journals, and 125 selective journals; plus books, research reports and proceedings. Subject coverage includes librarianship, classification, cataloging, bibliometrics, online information retrieval, information management and more. Coverage in the database extends back as far as the mid-1960s. MasterFILE Premier (EbscoHost)   This multidisciplinary database provides full text for more than 2,050 general reference publications with full text. MathSciNet A comprehensive index, with abstracts, to the research literature of mathematics. Published by the American Mathematical Society. MEDLINE with Full Text   MEDLINE (via EBSCO) is the premier collection of citations from medical and other health sciences journals from the United States and around the world created by the National Library of Medicine. It currently lists over 19 million citations from over 5000 health sciences journals. Please note: The citations listed in PubMed are the same citations listed in MEDLINE via EBSCO, but PubMed provides a different search interface and is freely available to all without a subscription. MegaFILE (Ebscohost) EBSCO MegaFILE is a multi-disciplinary database providing full text for over 19,100 total publications and indexing & abstracting for nearly 24,000 publications. Coverage spans every area of academic study and general interest subject area and offers information dating as far back as the 1800s. In addition, the database contains more than 85,800 biographies, 118,000 primary source documents, 10,150 company profiles and an image collection of more than 293,000 photos, maps and flags. EBSCO MegaFILE is comprised of EBSCO’s Academic Search Premier, Business Source Premier and Regional Business News databases. Mental Measurements Yearbook (EbscoHost)   The Mental Measurements Yearbook (MMY), produced by the Buros Institute at the University of Nebraska, provides users with a comprehensive guide to over 2,000 contemporary testing instruments. Designed for an audience ranging from novice test consumers to experienced professionals, the MMY series contains information essential for a complete evaluation of test products within such diverse areas as psychology, education, business, and leadership. All MMY entries contain descriptive information (e.g., test purpose, publisher, pricing) and edited review(s) written by leading content area experts. Minneapolis Tribune Historical Database   The Minneapolis Tribune (1867-1922) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. The collection includes digital reproductions providing access to every page from every available issue. MLA Directory of Periodicals This is a resource to find information about journals of literature and language. The MLA Directory of Periodicals offers detailed information on over 7,100 journals, with 4,400 currently indexed in the International Bibliography. The detailed entries include editorial contact information, as well as frequency, circulation, subscription prices and submission guidelines. National Newspaper Index (Gale)   National Newspaper Index provides quick access to the indexing of America's top five newspapers in one seamless search: The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Christian Science Monitor, Los Angeles Times and The Washington Post. New York Times Historical Database    The New York Times (1851-2001) offers full page and article images with searchable full text back to the first issue. Ovid Nursing Journals A collection of full text nursing journals. Oxford African American Studies Center    Combines major reference works, articles, primary sources, and images related to African American history and culture. Oxford English Dictionary    The standard in the field. The OED covers words from across the English-speaking world. It also offers the best in etymological analysis and in listing of variant spellings, and it shows pronunciation using the International Phonetic Alphabet. Oxford Reference Online    Oxford Reference Online brings together 100+ reference works into a single cross-searchable resource. Reference sources include subject specific dictionaries and encyclopedias, collected quotations, bilingual dictionaries, and more. Philosopher's Index Provides indexing and abstracts from books and over 270 journals on philosophy and related interdisciplinary fields published in the U.S. and the Western World. It covers the areas of ethics, aesthetics, epistemology, logic, and metaphysics as well as material on the philosophy of disciplines, such as law, religion, science, history, and education. PILOTS Database Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other mental-health sequelae of traumatic events. Professional Collection (Gale)   This collection consists of more than 40,000 items covering professional topics relating to management, educational administration, curriculum development, syllabi, education history and professional development. Project MUSE    Project MUSE offers nearly 250 journal titles from 40 scholarly publishers. Project MUSE covers the fields of literature and criticism, history, the visual and performing arts, cultural studies, education, political science, gender studies, economics, and many others. ProQuest    Provides access to the array of ProQuest, mostly full-text, databases which include: ProQuest Newspapers, Nursing Journals, New York Times Historical, and more. ProQuest Newspapers   Full-text collection of over 500 newspaper titles, including the Wall Street Journal, New York Times, Washington Post, International Herald Tribune, Financial Times and the Star Tribune. To search against only one of these newspapers, choose the newspaper you want in Browse Publications, and then do a keyword search. ProQuest Nursing & Allied Health Source    Offering complete information from leading nursing and allied health publications. All publications are available full text, and many articles include images and graphics as well. PubMed (MEDLINE)   PubMed provides free access to MEDLINE, the premier collection of citations from medical and other health sciences journals from the United States and around the world created by the National Library of Medicine. It currently lists over 18 million citations from over 5000 health sciences journals. PubMed also links to the free, full text articles available via PubMed Central. The citations listed in PubMed are the same citations listed in MEDLINE via EBSCO, but PubMed provides a different search interface. Regional Business News incorporates coverage of 75 business journals, newspapers and newswires from all metropolitan and rural areas within the United States.
